Iroko is another African species which is highly water resistant. It has antibacterial properties which make it the perfect choice for the kitchen. Iroko has initial golden tones, but darkens down to an ageless rich brown (which can in some instances resemble teak) once it has been oiled and aged. Iroko will season quickly and easily producing a classic and beautiful worktop for your kitchen.
Interesting fact: Iroko is nick-named the "King Tree". Iroko (Chlorophora excelsa) roughly translates Chlorophora "royal in appearance," and excelsa means "tall" or "high".
