Mahogany is rich, deep and dark, and is the perfect choice for any modern or classic kitchen. Mahogany has a generally straight grain with a reddish-brown color which darkens over time. It has excellent workability, and is very durable.
Mahogany traditionally came from Central and South America where it was first observed by a carpenter accompanying Sir Walter Raleigh on his explorations of the "New World". It was once a very rare and very expensive species of wood, and for hundreds of years it was only ever used to create pieces of very fine furniture. For example, the classic furniture maker Chippendale was famous for using Mahogany because of its high quality and versatility.
Interesting fact: The famous Beatles sound of the 60s was made with Ludwig Drums in mahogany shells.
Hardwood Worktops need to be treated with High Quality Danish oil, remember to add one 500ml bottle per length of worktop!
