Teak worktops offer excellent durability, colour and texture. Our Teak is cut from old trees grown slowly in natural forests, making it more durable and harder. (Teak from young trees grown in plantations is more prone to splitting and water damage)
Teak has a straight grain with unique curvy watermark patterns giving a distinct character to this wood. It is naturally a deep chocolate colour, beautiful and extremely tough.
Teak was grown mainly in India, Burma, Thailand and smaller south Asian countries. It is now growing throughout other tropical regions of the world, including East and West Africa, as well as Cuba and the Caribbean, and South America from Panama to Brazil.
Interesting fact: The Chinese Ming Dynasty built their fleet of "junk" ships out of teak wood.
Hardwood Worktops need to be treated with High Quality Danish oil, remember to add one 500ml bottle per length of worktop!
