Laminate Kitchen Worktops Maintenance
-
Laminate worktops are quite easy to maintain, and if the correct
steps are followed will retain their surface and colour for years.
-
If you do spill something onto your laminate worktop, it is best
to wipe liquids away as soon as possible The Liquids will not effect
the non-porous surface, but seepage can occur which may damage the
laminate core.
-
Laminate worktops will resist temperatures exceeding 100 degrees
centigrade and so contact with boiling water, hot cups or other
moderately hot items will not cause any problem. However, for pans
straight from the stove, hot cooking utensils, irons and other
excessively hot items it is recommended that the laminate is
protected by using a tripod or an inlay made from a suitably heat
resistant material.
-
Laminate worktops are scratch resistant and extremely durable,
but do not cut directly on the surface as this can cause scratching.
It is recommended to always use a chopping board or mat when
preparing food and to take care with cooking utensils - especially
metal items.
-
To maintain your laminate all that is normally required is to
regularly clean with water and a mild detergent. If there is a more
stubborn stain or build up to contend with it can usually be dealt
with by use of a non-abrasive cleaner, avoid bleach or caustic
substances. Never use a scourer or oven cleaner to clean your
laminate as this can scratch the surface, spoiling the look and
damaging the non-porous surfacing.
