Answers About Apollo Slab

  1. Can I get a quotation over the telephone?

The quickest way to get a quote is by using our Online Price Calculator which will give you an instant onscreen price and email you a copy of your quote. It may be possible for us to take your worktop specification over the telephone and send your quote through by email. However, we would strongly advise you to send us a simple sized plan or diagram by email, fax or post as this enables us to visualise your worktop layout, which ensures your quote is accurate and includes all your requirements.
  2. Do you provide samples?

Yes. We can send samples at a cost of £5 postage and packing per sample. Visit the sample order page to see the range of colours, complete the sample order form and make payment.
  3. Is your Apollo® Slab Technology the same as I've seen elsewhere?

Yes exactly the same, it is our supplier's own brand product and we buy from them direct. The only difference is the price. Our high sales volumes result in big supplier discounts which we pass directly on to you!
  4. Why is your Apollo® Slab cheaper than I've seen elsewhere?

High sales volumes result in big discounts from our suppliers and we have minimal overheads which allow us to pass maximum discounts to our customers.
  5. How much is Apollo® Slab per linear/square metre?

Apollo® Slab worktops are available in modular form, click here for sizes and prices, or fabricated to your bespoke specification. Bespoke worktops are more accurately quoted per project rather than per square metre. The true cost of the worktops is not just the material, but also includes fabrication, joints, edges and installation. See our instant price calculator for a full quote.
  6. Are all Apollo® Slab colours the same price?

    Yes.
  7. How does the price of Apollo® Slab compare with Granite or Corian®?

Apollo® Slab Technology is designed as a lower cost alternative to either Granite or Corian®. We can provide comparative quotes or you can see for yourself by completing our online price calculators for the different materials. We offer genuine discounts of 37% off retail price on all our Apollo® Slab worktops.
  8. Do you install in my area?

Yes. We are a nationwide company and install throughout mainland UK.
  9. Will you visit us to take final measurements?

Yes. Our fitter will visit your property approximately 2 weeks after order placement to make a template of your worktops prior to manufacture. The template process takes around 2 hours.
  10. Do you recommend a particular style of sink?

Apollo® Slab worktops can support inset, undermounted, Belfast or moulded sinks. Obviously the most aesthetically pleasing is the moulded sink, available in a Pure White finish with single bowl or 1.5 bowl options. However, an undermounted stainless steel sink is an attractive alternative.
  11. Can you supply my sink & hob?

We can supply sinks. Moulded sinks can be selected as part of the online quote calculator process and other sink options can be purchased from our website www.kitchen-sinks-taps.co.uk. We do not currently supply hobs.
  12. What if I don't see the sink or tap that I want?

Ask our Sales Team. Often we will be able to supply your required sink/tap. If not we simply require you to have the sink/tap on site at the property when our fitter comes to template.
  13. Can I cut and prepare directly on the worktops?

No. We strongly recommend the use of a chopping board to prevent scratching. However, if the Apollo® Slab surface does become scratched, the scratches can be easily polished out. Full information is provided with the Care & Maintenance Kit.
  14. Can I place hot pans on Apollo® Slab?

No. We recommend installing pan rests or using a hot pan platter.
  15. Can tiling take place before my worktop installation?

No. For the best finish, tiling should be completed after the Apollo® Slab worktop has been installed.
  16. What appliances/fittings should be on-site for the Template?

We require your hob, sink and taps to be on-site, but not connected up, prior to the Template appointment. Also, all kitchen base units and any additional worktop supports must be fixed in place and level. This is most important to ensure Template accuracy.
  17. Do I need to be present during the Template appointment?

Yes please. You or an authorised person must be present to allow access and sign off the paperwork for final agreement with the fitter re: joints, cut outs, upstands etc.
  18. Can my wall cupboard units be fitted before the worktops are installed?

Unless your kitchen wall units are already installed, we recommend that they are fitted after the installation of your Apollo® Slab composite worktop. Dresser units MUST NOT be fitted until after your worktop installation. Existing Dresser units MUST be removed and re-fitted following worktop installation.
  19. Are joints in the Apollo® Slab composite material apparent?

Apollo® Slab worktop joints are seamless. This means that you should be able to run your hand over the work surface without feeling the joint. However, seamless does not mean invisible and some colours may show a hairline join.
  20. Can Apollo® Slab worktops be used alongside other textures and materials?

Apollo® Slab can be co-ordinated with ceramic tiling, stainless steel, wood, granite or glass. You can also use a mix of complementary or contrasting colours in the Apollo® Slab material to create that exclusive unique design.
  21. What is the surface finish of the Apollo® Slab Tech worktops?

Apollo® Slab composite worktops will have a mid-sheen finish.
  22. Do your fitters plumb-in my sink/basin during installation?

No. Our fitters are not qualified to carry out any plumbing work. You will need to arrange a plumber.
  23. How do I fit my sink to the worktop?

If you have chosen an Apollo® Slab Tech sink it will be installed as part of the fabrication process. We will fit other sinks for you during installation. Ceramic sinks may require additional support underneath. Our fitters do not provide this additional support.
  24. Do your fitters connect my hob during installation?

No. Our fitters are not qualified to carry out any electrical or gas connection work. You will need to arrange an electrician or gas engineer.
  25. Do I need to be present during the worktop installation?

Yes please. You or an authorised person must be present to allow access sign our fitter's paperwork on completion of the Installation.
  26. Can an Apollo® Slab Tech worktop be repaired if damaged?

Yes. Apollo® Slab composite material can be repaired. Surface scratches can be removed simply using a household abrasive cleaner and a scouring pad to restore the 'just installed' finish. More serious damage can be repaired seamlessly by a professional.
  27. Could I add to the Apollo® Slab Tech worktops later?

Yes, although it must be noted that Apollo® Slab Technology is batch processed material and shade variance may occur between batches.
  28. How do I clean Apollo® Slab Tech worktops?

For everyday cleaning use the detergent provided with your care & maintenance kit (diluted 1:100 parts). For heavier stains or grease you may need to reduce the dilution rate or use neat detergent, leaving for 15 minutes before rinsing thoroughly with water and a clean cloth. Also, supplied with your care kit is a cream cleaner. This is a mildly abrasive solution designed to remove stubborn marks which may appear from time to time. Full details on cleaning and maintaining your Apollo® Slab worktops are provided with the care kit.
